In this week's Lectiocast, it was suggested that churches and others may need to act as sanctuaries for mercy. "Christ is king. That’s the week on the liturgical calendar, it’s the promise of God. And it’s our hope in a time when we have figured out that our earthly shepherds are not going to fulfill God’s visions of justice and righteousness." Comments?

Institutional churches are under increasing government control and will become a lightning rod for trouble if they engage in civil disobedience. Waco could be an example. But individual Christians can show kindness at a level that would most likely go unnoticed. There is a move to criminalize homelessness in some places so possibly taking some of these folk in would be a start. http://www.cbsnews.com/news/report-cities-nationwide-enacting-more-policies-to-criminalize-homelessness/
